ABOUT
I am an avid fine-art photographer living in Elkins Park, PA. I actively participate in the Philadelphia area’s photography community. Some days I spend far too much time immersed in the photographic world - making images, talking gear, post-processing, creating prints, reading and viewing photography work, and more.
How did I get into the deep-end of the photography pool? It may stem, as so many things do, from childhood. My dad was often taking photos of us as kids with an Olympus 35mm starting back in the late 1950's as photography expanded to the suburbs. Seeing my family in those Kodachrome moments during slide-shows stirred something, and along the way, I acquired my first simple black plastic film camera. While I pursued a career as a creative technologist, photography grew from a casual family-and-travel documentation into a lifelong passion and never-ending study.
2020 brought Covid, dark times, and isolation. Yet I found positive connections with nature and family and friends. Conversations lengthened and felt more intimate. I completed two new series, Light Escapes Gravity and Sacramentos: Family Moments that grew out of my optimism and hope for better times ahead. In 2022 a new series Tree Talk, inspired by reading and experiencing how trees communicate with one another, was shown at Gallery 14 (Hopewell, NJ) and Lakefront Gallery, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton (Hamilton, NJ).
