Small Takes On Big Places

While I adore trees and being outdoors in nature, I've also found calm and thoughtful reflection in the curves and rectangles that make up very large structures. True, it is photographing the work of others, some of them genius architects, but the joy is in finding come-a-little-closer compositions that suggest, to me, feelings – soaring, sad, delighted, determined – instead of images featuring most of an entire building or interior.

I have photographed in and around institutions of art, science and industry, looking for unique and expressive compositions of the spaces created by architects. Some sites are long abandoned while others are buildings full of activity in various locations and cities. I hope you will enjoy these images as you consider a second appreciative look at the marvelous buildings around us.
